Hint: Easy code entry:
After beating the checklist at the beginning of thegame, save the game to make starting new games easier. Also savethe game at the very end, before the ending sequence starts. Then,load that game, advance past the FMV sequences, and the codeswill already be enabled.

Hint: Easy getaway:
While the police is chasing your car from behind, slamthe brakes, wait for him to run into your car, then slam the carin reverse. If done correctly, the policeman will say that helost you. Hit the gas to complete an easy getaway.

Another getaway technique that does not expend as much energyas ramming is to use the surrounding traffic. Gently tap the carstoward the direction that your car is travelling. The cops willfollow and most often ram the traffic car instead of your car.

The police AI is relatively dumb. Try "hiding" behinda light pole and watch the cops wrap themselves around it. Also,find a wall and try and get it between your car and the police.If you have the skills, turning into an alleyway quickly can alsoshake off a pursuit. Weaving through traffic generally does notwork unless you skin the other cars. For some reason, the policetend to run into stopped cars a lot more frequently. Also, thepolice barricade cars will remain still if they are not touched.If you can pass through the middle, any police cars that are followingwill usually hit the barricade, causing one large pile-up.

When pursued by the police, take your vehicle up onto a footpathand stay on it for approximately five to ten seconds. The policewill turn around to go in another direction and say they havelost you. This will even work when the police are right on yourtail.

In San Francisco, enable the "Invincible" code, thenlocate the ramps. After the police are on your tail, get to topspeed, ramp, and turn sharply. If done correctly, the police willfly over your car at the speed and direction that you were travelling.

A good way to hide from police in San Francisco is to go up tothe trolley. If the cops are on one side of it, drive on the otherside of the trolly at the same speed. When you get near a turn,go down that road then go down the next road. If done correctly,the cops should not be chasing you anymore.

Begin game play in Miami in survival mode. As the level begins,veer off to the left and drive between the light pole and building.If you look behind your car, two police cars should collide intoeach other, giving you an extra chance to get more distance fromthem.

When you are wanted and you see a cop in front of you, drive upbehind him. He will see you in his rear-view mirror and turn aroundto try to get you. If timed correctly, you can try to get thecop to crash into a tree or obstacle to get a great opportunityto get away.

When being chased by the cops and there is a car in the rightlane, pull off on the right side of the car on to the sidewalkor the shoulder. The cop should follow you and smash into a streetlight or hit the car, allowing you to escape.

If you are being chased by the cops, try not to go on to grassyareas because your steering and acceleration are much worse. Thismakes it a lot harder to escape, especially if chased by morethan one cop.

There is a certain way to bump into other cars to slow down thecops. If you are on the left side of the car, lightly tap theleft tail light of the car. If on the right, lightly tap the righttail light. If done correctly, the car will spin sideways, makingit easier for you to escape the cops.

When being chased by the cops and you want to make a turn, donot turn at the intersection. Instead, drive a little past iton the wrong side of the road. Then, turn towards the curb separatingthe roads and do a 180 spin and get on the other side of the road.The cops should drive right past you. You can now make your turnand gain a larger head start to escape.

When being chased by the cops and a hill-ramp type of objectsappears, drive right up to it until you reach the top. Slowlygo down it. The cop will chase you and go flying over you, causingmajor damage or even flipping his car. If the cop is still alive,back up and do the same thing in reverse. Repeat these step untilthe police unit is destroyed.

While playing in Miami in survival mode, turn left immediatelywhen you start. Turn until you see a building and a pole. Drivedirectly between the building and the pole. If done correctly,two cops should slam into each other, allowing you to have aneasy getaway.

Drive to a hill that you can jump pretty far going your averagespeed (86 to 87 mph). Slow down so you do not jump. Do a 180 andhide behind the hill. If done correctly , your pursuers will jumpright over you and get very far behind.

Play in Miami and go to a bridge with a cop on your tail. Jumpover the bride and the cop will go flying.

Hint: Wrecking a police car:
To wreck a single police car, slow down and then stop.When he slows down, back up into him. This will do some damageto your car, but it will quickly destroy the pursuing police car.

Hint: Losing the tail on "Getaway":
Choose San Francisco and travel straight until youget to the end of the street, then make a left. There should betracks in the middle of the street. Go on the right hand sideof the tracks and stop your car when the streetcar appears. Thestreetcar should hit your car and push it along the street. Thepolice will keep crashing into the streetcar until their car wrecks.if the streetcar bumps you out of the way, chase it and try toget in front of it. Note: In order for this to work, you musttravel at top speed until you get to the tracks.

Hint: Avoiding roadblocks:
When being chased by the police, and they have formeda roadblock, you do not have to smash through it. Drive up onto the sidewalk, avoiding any street lights or solid objects.After you have done this, pull back in to the center lane. Ifdone correctly, the police will keep chasing you until they allsmash into the roadblock, causing a large traffic jam. Keep inmind that once a police car in the roadblock is hit, it will beginto chase you. However, you will have a large head start, and almostany other car on the road will get smashed from the police carsthat were chasing you. Note: This only works about three timesduring a chase.

Hint: Smart braking:
One bothersome feature about the game are the brakes,Once you hit the brakes and come to a complete stop, you go inreverse and do not stop fast enough. This is bad if there is acop chasing you, or if you need to make a quick stop in an intersection.To brake effectively, without going into reverse, hold Square+ Triangle. Your car will come to a quick stop, and thereverse light will only come on briefly.

Hint: Turn sharper:
Press L1 when turning a corner to turn the wheelssharper. Also try it while looking from the side of the car.

Alternately, when turning press Triangle.

Hint: Flip your car:
To make your car do a flip, find a cop car on its side.Get some distance and ram into the bottom part of the car. Ifdone correctly, your car will flip very high in the air.

Hint: Wheelie:
Enable the "Stilts" code. Go on any hilland hit the bottom of it to do a wheelie.

Hint: Avoiding flips when on stilts:
When the "Stilts" code is enabled, be carefulwhen turning. One quick or sharp turn can flip your car on itsside, making it impossible to continue on a mission. Take a nice,slow, steady turns to avoid this.

Hint: Fly in the sky:
Go just next to an edge with a cop on your tail. Waitat the edge and he will hit you send you flying high in the skybriefly.

Hint: Rear view:
Press both the side view buttons at the same time.This is helpful to see where you need to move to make a pursuingcop hit an object.

Hint: Easy 360:
To do an easy 360 press, hold Circle then whileyour car tires are still smoking. Hold Left or Rightto avoid a police barricade. Try to swerve around them, then headquickly to the other side. If done correctly, the police carsshould wreck themselves and stop following you.

Hint: Driving conditions:
Driving conditions on the grass are the same conditionsas when it is raining.

Hint: Car sounds:
Come to a complete, then hold Triangle + Squareto hear a different sound from your car.

Hint: Statue Of Liberty:
Drive along the Hudson River in New York. Make sureriver is on the right side of your car. When you get to the end,where it becomes a corner, press R2 to look to the rightover the water to see the Statue Of Liberty.

Hint: Alcatraz island:
Go to the north-eastern most part of San Francisco,along the bay. Look on the map to the north in the bay for Alcatrazisland.

Hint: Completing the parking garage level:
First, burnout and hold X when your tires stopsmoking. Just before you hit the wall, use the handbrake and regularbrakes simultaneously. This takes care of burnout, speed test,handbrake, and brake test. Do a reverse 180 from there, and thena regular 180. Now do a 360. You should be facing the pillars.Weave in and out of them to do a slalom. Now, just do a lap aroundthe parking garage without hitting anything, and you are done.

Hint: Better handling:
After starting the game, ram the back of your car intoa building, or better yet, other vehicles. Make sure only theback of the car is damaged. Do this until the back is very smashedup. If the damage bar turns any other color but green, then itwas not done correctly. Doing this will increase handling greatly.Its very useful for getting out of tough situations, getting awayfrom the law, or making a last minute turn.

Another way to improve the handling is to enter the game optionsand turn off "Auto Handbrake" ever time the game isplayed. That option always turns back on after the game is quit.Turning off the option makes the car actually handles like a realcar.

Hint: Easy times in San Francisco survivalmode:
This trick is difficult, but well worth the effort.After starting, go straight to reach two roads, to the left andright. Follow the road to the right, but stop when reaching themiddle of the first hill. If done correctly, the police will rampoff the hill and over your car. Go to the top of the hill, a littlefrom the edge and once again, stop. If done correctly, the policewill once again ramp off the hill and land somewhere behind yourcar. Keep repeating this and eventually the police will all landon their sides or tops. If you keep all the fallen police carswithin a certain range, then no more units will appear. You canjust wait there as long as desired and score impossible times.

Hint: Get major air in Miami:
Enable the "Stilts" cheat. Go to Miami intake a ride mode. Drive straight on the highway where you start.Pass the billboard that says "No thanks just milk" onyour left. Turn right on the street after the billboard. Go straighton that street, and at the intersection there will be a hill.Hit it with great speed and you will get major air. Note: Alsoenable the "Immunity" and "No Police" cheatsto make it easier.

Enable the "Stilts" cheat. Go to Miami and keep goingnorth until you see a bridge. Go back a bit to get speed, thengun it to jump the bridge.

Hint: Knock out street light in Miami:
Note: This will only work for the single bulb sidewalklights. Drive very fast and hit the light.

Hint: Improved times in survival mode:
Use anything possible as a barricade. The police AIis "dumb" and will hit anything or do almost anythingto get to your car. You can hide behind other cars and lamp posts.Objects such as pay phones and parking meters do not work sincecars can drive through them. Try swerving in and out of trafficand stop near or in front of cars and lamp posts. Driving closeto traffic or on the "sidewalks" can also be effectiveif done correctly. Try not to use the "Burn Out" buttonbecause it can spin your car out of control after a hit by policecars, making it an easy target to be hit and "wrecked".

Hint: Crazy demos:
Enable either the "Stilts" or "RearWheel Steering" codes, Select one of the training modes tosee a crazy demo.

Hint: Police in replay:
Enable the "No police" code and drive around.Select the replay option after crashing or exiting to see whatwould have happened if the police were active.

Hint: Get destroyed in replay while invincible:
Enable the "Invincibility" code, then playa mission or take a drive. Intentionally get a lot of damage whileplaying, then at the end of your mission or drive, go to "FilmDirector". The replay will show your car being destroyedat the point it normally would have, as if the invincibility codewere not active.

Hint: Do not get hurt by police or cars:
Play the game in carnage mode. Then, use the film directorand direct a film of your carnage game. Save the replay. Go tocar chases and watch the saved replay. Then, go to take a drive,undercover, or another mod and the police and cars will not hurtyou. Walls are still dangerous. If you exit the game, watch thesaved replay again and it will be turned back on.

Hint: Driving on the sidewalks:
You can drive on the sidewalks regardless of what themanual states. Just drive slowly and do not hit any signs, cars,or other objects.

Hint: Driving over benches and small pillars:
Enable the "Stilts" code to drive over thebenches and parking pillars. The police will just hit them.

Hint: Jump on cars:
You can jump on cars by lining them up on a hill inSan Francisco. Go down the hill, then jump on them. This resultsin a trampoline effect, sending you flying into the air.

Hint: World Trade Center view in New York:
At the beginning of Take A Ride mode in New York, youcan easily see the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Youcan drive around them and even view the sphere in the middle ofthe plaza.

Hint: Hit the roof in San Francisco:
Enable the "Stilts" code. When you startin San Francisco, go down two streets and then take a left. Godown that street until you get the multiple level garage. Go inside,and if you are going fast enough you will hit the roof easilyand land on your back.

Hint: Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco:
Enable the "Invincibility" code. Choose TakeA Ride mode, then select San Francisco and pick "Day".When you start, turn the other way. At the first intersection,make a left turn. Keep going straight until you reach a threeway intersection (with no north direction). Make a right turnand keep going straight. You will eventually cross the GoldenGate Bridge.

Hint: Flipping on stilts:
In San Francisco, drive straight on your left and youwill see something that resembles a backwards "J". Go up to it and you will see a parking garage. Go inside and therewill be ramps. Floor it and you will bounce off and do a flip. Note: This requires skill and a few attempts.

Hint: Drive into Madison Square Garden:
Find the ticket office and drive on either side ofit. This will take you into the building -- you can drive aroundthe inside of it. To get out, find one of the two entrances anddrive out.

Hint: Avoid police chases:
Drive like you are one of the city cars and the policewill not follow you unless you hit a car or building.

When you are being chased by a cop and are close to a hill, trybraking and it should send them flying.

If you are being chased by a cop, zigzag through traffic. If youare skillful enough, you should have no problem losing the police.Also drive behind a light pole, and the cops will run into itwhile trying to get to you.

When being chased by cops, pass other cars very closely. Do thesame with lamp posts and trees. The cops are likely to hit thecar, lamp post, or other object that you passed. This will eitherwreck them or slow them down.

Glitch: Leave the screen:
Go to the warehouses in San Francisco and find thesidewalk that leads a black screen. The police will not chaseyou.

Enable the "Stilts" code and begin game play in SanFrancisco. Go to the car park and drive full speed over the rampto leave the game area.

In Miami, do not turn and keep going straight until reaching thenext town. Go three streets, then take a left. Go over the bridgeand get a cop to follow you. Go back over the bridge and keepdriving in until you have turn left or right. At the last moment,take a left and slide into the wall with your car being sideways.Allow the cop to hit you on your side and you will go out of thescreen. Note: This might take a few attempts.

Glitch: Get knocked on roof:
When in New York on the last mission, where you haveto rescue the President, drive until you find a secret agent.Do a 360º turn and the agent should hit you right in thefront of your car and flip it on the roof. If that does not work,just let the secret agents gang up on you and they will hit youon the roof.

Glitch: Float on water:
Go to Miami and allow the cops to chase you. Go toan edge, let the cop hit you into the water, and you will notsink. Note: This takes practice.

Get the cops to chase you, go up against a wall, just as if youare parking. Have an angry cop smash your car. Sometimes you willgo beyond the barrier and be able to drive below the bridge andover water. This is best done in survival mode. Note: Sometimesyour car will just go airborne and "fly away".

Glitch: Drive through walls:
If a cop hits just right in Miami, you will go throughthe wall. Note: This does not work with all walls.

In Miami, go straight all the way over the long bridge. Go tothe opposite side of every building. You can drive straight intoone of the walls just beside the Family Food Centers.

In San Francisco, find a building that pops out from the buildingnext to it. This, of course, creates a corner. At full speed,still on the street with the building ahead, steer toward it.Ram the corner where the two buildings meet. You have got to hitit exactly to pass through the walls and drive out of bounds inthe red area of the map.

Go past the Golden Gate bridge in the San Francisco level withthe "No Police" and "Invincibility" codesenabled. When you get past the bridge, the mini-map will showwhat looks like a loop. You have to turn onto the first left.You should now be going down a hill. At the bottom, you have tomake a car crash so it is not running anymore. Move the car intothe corner at the bottom of the hill. Start backing up the hill,but do not go too far or the car will disappear. After you hitthe car it will go flying through the wall.

Start a game in take a ride mode in San Francisco. Drive straightand on the map you will see the parking garage. Get the policeto chase you into the right entrance of the garage. As you areentering, go full speed and make sure the cop is on your tail.When you hit the ramp, the cop car will give you a push. If donecorrectly, you will go through the wall. You will then be on theinside of a limited area. Note: This may require several attempts.When on the other side of the wall, do not go inside the garagebuilding again (from the other side), as you will get stuck withno way out.

In Los Angeles, drive to LAX. Make sure that your felony is fulland damage is off. Once at LAX, drive to the wall that separatesthe two runways. Park directly parallel and touching it. A copshould hit you hard from the side and knock you through the wall.This is the easiest place in the game to get knocked outside ofa city. Be careful, as it is very easy to flip once outside ofthe city limits, especially along side the freeway.

In Los Angeles, take the long freeway past LAX until you reachthe end corner, next to the Ocean. Take the turn and there willbe the freeway continuing along the ocean and another road parallelto it on your right. Take the road on the right that runs alongthe cliff. Drive down the road and look for a grassy area witha restaurant type building in it. This in between two buildings.Go behind the restaurant and drive straight. You will go throughthe wall and into the city "Block".

In Los Angeles, drive to LAX in take a ride mode. The first buildingyou will see is yellow and orange with two parts that stick out.You can drive through the left part that sticks out.

There are a few locations that allow you to travel through objects.One is in the part that you start in take a ride mode. To getthere, turn right at the first stop light, then turn left whenyou get to the next stop light. Go straight for a few seconds.When you get to the second to the last block, about half way downis a place that is narrow, and in between two walls that stickout further than it does. There are also people sitting at thetables to the right of this location. You should be able to justdrive right through it. Another location like this is at the Marina,where the trees are located. The first part of the trees thatstarts to stick out to the right is the place. With this location,you must have the police ram you through. When you are drivingon the water, there may be some spots that are higher than otherswhich can flip your car over.

Start game play in Miami in take a ride mode and go straight downthe road on which the game begins. Drive along the highway tothe next town. Note: You must have your felony meter full. Whenyou get there, keep going until you see the trees. Park your carin the grass, parallel with the trees, then intentionally allowthe police to ram you through. Be careful, as some of the spotsin the water will flip your car.

Go to the take a ride option at the main menu and go to Miami.Drive straight and make a right turn at the third stoplight. Gostraight to the end, all the way to the wall, then make a leftturn at the wall on the sand. Drive straight and hit the wallin front of you. Keep trying if this does not work the first time.Once you get through the wall, you will have to back up slightlyand turn hard to the right. Then, you will have to turn hard tothe left and keep driving straight. Be careful, as it is easyto flip in the water. Enable the "No Police", "Stilts",and "Invincibility" codes to help.

When in New York on the last mission, where you have to rescuethe President, drive north in your Cadillac. A group of secretagents will be soon be after you. Allow them chase you and gointo a corner. If done correctly, when they hit you will go rightthrough the wall.

Drive to Bal Harbor in Miami. Go to the third street from thesouth of Bal Harbour. The street has a bridge. Go down the streettowards the bridge and turn into the gap in the buildings on theright. Line your car up with the wall and reverse into the smallwall behind you. If done correctly, your car will go through thewall. You can get out the same way.

Select Survival mode and choose New York. When you start, turnleft then take a right. Drive straight until you see a buildingthen slowly take a right. Stop where you see a triangle corner,then drive straight into it. While going straight, turn slightlyleft and you will get inside. If you land on your wheels you candrive. To get out, go to where you came in then turn slightlyright.

Glitch: Los Angeles: Parking garage:
In Los Angeles, there is a four-level parking garagein the center-west portion of the map. When you visit, cars atthis location fall from the ceiling and drive through walls, whileall the cars outside are frozen, including the police. Pedestrianswill still walk the ghostly streets.

Glitch: Miami: Stuck in garage:
Go to your left at the beginning and turn right. Keepgoing north until the start of the bridge. Turn left, and if aroad is not there, turn left again and go to the next road. Turnright, then left and left again. Go right. Keep driving untilyou get to downtown. Then, keep going south of the highway whenit says "Coral Gabels". In your mini-map, you will seetwo blocks on the upper-right. Let a cop chase you, then in thetwo squares, in the middle there is a line. Drive there. Findthe house with a garage (next to it a large long house). Get insidethe garage and stay there. The garage will open and shut threeor four times. It will then stay closed and you will be stuck;the cops will not get you. Note: Activate the "Invincible"code but do not enable "Immunity from police".

Glitch: Replay cheats:
Use this glitch instead of entering the codes eachtime you play the game. Enable the codes you want activated. Then,do a race on any level. Save the replay. You can also reset thesystem if desired. When the main menu appears, select "CarChases," then "Load Film Replay." Load the replayyou saved with all the cheats, and watch the entire sequence.Next, exit the editor and return to the main menu. Select "Takea Ride" and choose your level. After the level loads, youshould have all the cheats you entered on your replay.

Hydraulics:
cartridge. Enable the "Lowrider" code:
