Hydro Thunder

Tinytanic boat:
The Tinytanic boat can be unlocked by completing theCatacomb level. All bonus boats are unlocked by getting firstplace in each bonus track.

Hint: Hydro Jump:
Make sure you have boost, then hold X + R1,release X, and press Square while continuing tohold R1. If done correctly, your boat will fly into theair.

Hint: Mega Hydro Jump:
You must have plenty of boost. Press R1 + X+ Square, release X and you will do the Hydro Jump.Continue to do this and you will be bouncing, or skipping throughthe water. This is especially useful in the Nile Adventure trackwhen in the room with the floating 9 second boost.

Hint: Super start:
Hold X immediately after the announcer says"one" at the start of the race. In about three secondsa voice should say "Super Start". This allows you togo faster from the start and usually takes you to about 13th placeimmediately.

Hint: Super boost:
Press R1 to use a boost while going throughbuoy in any level. It will make your boat go very fast. A explosion-likesound will confirm that the trick worked.

Hint: Arctic Circle: Shortcut:
Near the beginning of the level are some houses. Thereis a house where you can only see the roof. Jump off the roofand you should jump up about three or four places ahead.

Hint: Arctic Circle: 4 second boost:
When you are about halfway through the track, thereis the 4 second boost before a 90 degree left turn, and a tunnelbefore the corner. Use boost to ram into the bank just beforethe tunnel and bounce into the tunnel. When you enter the tunnelyou will pick up speed and your boat will be uncontrollable. Youwill exit before the tanker jump.

Hint: Arctic Circle: Secret area:
When you reach the area with the big oil tanker andpenguins, jump over into a secret area with a red boost.

Hint: Catacomb: 9 second boost:
At beginning of the race there are two columns. Gobetween them and you will get a 9 second boost.

Hint: Far East: Shortcut:
When you are about half way through the level you willreach a place where the water will drop three times. Just whenyour on the third one, immediately do your booster jump when youget on the edge. When your boat jumps in the air, hold Boost.If done correctly, you should land on top of a place above thetunnel ahead. This will make it much faster than having to goin a big "L". Note: This requires some practice.

Hint: Far East: Boost:
When you pass the first dragon shortly before the finishline, make sure you have some boost remaining for the little islandholding the second dragon. If you boost/jump through the lanternson the island, you will get extra boost. You can get an eightsecond boost if you hit both lanterns precisely.

Hint: Lake Powell: Shortcut:
Near the end of the level there are two gaps and acement ramp-like wall separating them. Use your booster and goup the ramp. You should land on the train tracks and get a 9 secondboost.

Hint: Lost Island: Boosts:
After the first shortcut is a bunch of grass. On theleft side, jump immediately before the tunnel. This will takeyou to four boosts (two blues and two reds).

Hint: Lost Island: Shortcuts:
Go through the waterfall at the beginning of the level.You will get a red and blue boost, fall out a small fall, andimmediately find a small village. At the end of the village, beforethe slight turn, go towards the left side. You will find a cave.Go through it and get the red boost, then a blue. You will exitthe cave and be above the track. You will get another blue boostand a final red boost.

This level has three shortcuts. At the start, go through the waterfallthen turn to the left. Before you go through the tunnel, do aHydrojump. This will take you to a secret area. If you miss it,you can also go up the other waterfall but you will take damage.You can then go through the volcano, but use a turbo off of theramp to get an invisible 9 second boost.

Hint: New York Disaster: Shortcut:
Near the beginning is a silver revolving door thatappears to be solid. Go through it and you will find a blue boostand a red boost. To get the red boost you have to use a HydroJump (hold Brake and use Boost).

Just after the start when you enter the first tunnel, you willsee a checkered pattern on the left wall (just before exitingthe tunnel). This is a shortcut that will bring you to where therevolving door would, and will take you five or so places furtherinto the pack.

Hint: New York Disaster: Boost:
At the start of the level is a wide tunnel. While inthis tunnel a checkerboard pattern on the wall will appear. Whenyou see this, turn towards the left. Use the Hydro Jump to finda red boost.

Hint: Nile Adventure: Complete the level:
The following steps will help you complete Nile Adventure,the hardest level in the game in the only way possible. Go intothe room where you can use the "Mega Hydro Jump" trickand get all the boosts. There are about four or, so includinga 9 second boost. Some of the boosts are hidden, and require somepractice. Recommended boats for this track are The Chumdinger,and the boat with the Fisherman, the Dog, and the huge booster.Use all the shortcuts, jump up onto the top of the track in thebeginning of the race, and the near the end, bust through thesarcophagus.

Hint: Venice Canals: Complete the level:
The following steps will help you complete Venice Canals,the hardest level (next to Nile Adventure) in the game in theonly way possible. First, you must get a large amount of boost.A fast boat like the RaD HaZarD is recommended, if your good atturning. You must use your hydro jump to jump onto and over grass.This will get you ahead of a few racers. Then, you will reacha room with swinging chandeliers You have to hydro jump at justthe right moment on the second chandeliers (there are a totalof three). You will get a 9 second boost. Use it wisely to winand complete the level.

Hint: Venice Canals: Secrets:
A house will appear when you are going down the straightwaybefore the sharp turn (where there is a bridge). Do a Hydro Jump,and if you are in eight place or less, you will end up in firstplace for the time being.

There is a bridge after you see the red boost in the hole thatis up high. If you go to the far right, you will go under thebridge and see a bonus. If done correctly the announcer will saythat you have found a secret.

The following is a list of the best boats to use onthe easy and medium tracks.

Thunder Park track: Damn the Torpedoes
Lost Island track: Midway
Arctic Circle track: Damn the Torpedoes
Greek Isles track: Midway
Lake Powell track: Thresher
The Far East track: Thresher or Midway

The best boat in the game aside from the bonus boats is the DamnThe Torpedoes. It will go faster and you will pass more people.

Glitch: Multiple boat name announcements:
Choose your boat and press X at the boat selectionscreen. The announcer will say your boat's name three times. Note:This does not work in two player mode.

Glitch: Nile Adventure:
Enter the room with the sarcophaguses. In the one whereyou bust through to go in the short-cut, you can get rammed upagainst the wall near it and will be flying up it. Keep pressingAccelerate to make multiple copies of your current boatappear.

Glitch: Hydro Skip:
Unlock the Chumdinger and N.Y. Disaster boats. Enablingthe "Unlimited boost" GameShark code is also recommended.Go the part where the Coast Guard chases you around the "asteroid".Enter the tunnel and take the left path. When you reach the partwhere you fall down a hole, Hydro Jump and crash into the subway.Your boat will jump around and spin until you get out (by goingin reverse).
