Note: This game is also titled Seiken Densetsu 4.

In-game reset:
Hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2+ Select + Start during game play.

Nightmare and No Future modes:
After completing the game, go to your study and accessthe books there. You will find a book called "Forbidden Tome".You will be asked "Do you wish to live in peace?". Select"Yes" for normal mode, or "No" for the nextquestion, which will be "Want a Nightmare?". Select"Yes" for Nightmare mode (difficult) or "No"for the next question, which will be "Wish to have a future?".Select "No" for No Future mode (extra difficult). Sinceyou will probably have to complete the game many times to actuallycomplete all the story segments, these options help make it lessrepetitive and add a bit of a challenge.

Get a Chocobo:
To get a Chocobo as a pet, have a Final Fantasy8 saved game on the same memory card as the one used for LegendOf Mana. Enter the save screen, highlight the Final Fantasy8 file, then exit out of the save screen. When you catch abird egg in the eastern section of Domina it should hatch intoa Chocobo.

To get a Chocobo as your first pet instead of a Rabite, name yourcharacter Dagger or if it is a boy, Seifer. Then, have Daena asyour NPC. Instead of a beast egg, you will get a bird egg. Itwill soon become a Chocobo.

Secret sword:
Have a saved game from SaGa Frontier 2 on thesame memory card as the one used for Legend Of Mana. Enterthe save screen, highlight the SaGa Frontier 2 file,then exit out of the save screen. Enter Bone Fortress andhead toward the bridge where you fought the DeathBringer. Therewill be two skeletons at that location. When approach them, themyou will fight DeathBringer 2. After defeating it, you will getthe strongest sword from SaGa Frontier 2.

Easy Lucre:
After getting the frozen heart "AF", defeatthe Boss and re-enter the level. Instead of going to the FieldOf Lost Guilt, move right. Go in and out to get Dragon Eggs thatsell for 5,000 or 500 Lucre.

Go to Luon Highway and fight Spiny Cones and Stinger Bugs. Tryto win some Wind Caps from Spiny Cones and Clear Feathers fromStinger Bugs. Go to your house and Temper the Wind Caps with ClearFeathers. Finish after you get three Lord Of Flies cards on oneWind Cap. Take the Wind Cap to the nearest store and sell it.You should be able to sell one Wind Cap for 26,000+ Lucre. Ifnot, add more Clear Feathers to it.

If you find your pet useless or do not like it, bear with it andlet it out to graze. After some hours of adventuring, it shouldbe at a quite high level. Sell it, and you earn a profit.

Fight Dragons for Dragon Steaks to sell for 1000 Lucre.

Go to the Underworld (or anywhere else that the following monstersappear) and fight Specters until one drops a DragonBone (CursedBonePendant). Then, fight Bloodsuckers until you have at least fourBlackened Bats. Go to your workshop and temper the Blackened Batsinto the DragonBone Pendant. You should see three "WingsOf Darkness" cards added to the item. When you are finished,you can sell the pendant at any shop for well over 20,000 lucre.

Easy Experience Crystals and Lucre:
Go to Norn Peaks after you destroy Drakonis. Go tothe top of the mountain and Akravator will be there. Destroy himand leave the room. Return and he will be there again. You cankeep repeating this to get as many Experience Crystals and Lucreas needed.

At the beginning of the game after you complete "The LostPrincess" event, return to Mekiv Caverns. At the entrance,there should be two Boinks. Talk to the lower one and he willtransport you in front of a opening. Go through, and there shouldbe two Goblins. Fight them and you should either get lots of experienceand Lucre, or an item. Keep fighting the Goblins for about anhour, and you should be about level 12. After that, go to a storeand sell all the Axes you obtained from the Goblins. You shouldhave a mixture of Earthsplitters and BlackElks. Each one of theseis worth 300 Lucre. Sell them. Also, if desired, you can alsokeep one of these axes as they are the strongest weapons you canhave at this point of the game. Earthsplitters are two-handedaxes and their power level is 31. BlackElks are one-handed axesand their power level is 26.

At the Bejeweled City where you fight the Machine Golem, defeathim, get the jewel, leave, return, then defeat him again to get850 experience points and at least 100 Lucre.

Get "Fastest Wheel":
Complete the "Catchin' Lilipeas" quest andhave a saved game from Chocobo Racing on the same memorycard as the one used for Legend Of Mana. Highlight theChocobo Racing file, then exit out of the save screen.Go to Polpota Harbor. On the Polpota Harbor map screen Skippy,the thin big eared creature from the "Catchin' lilipeas"and "Huntin' Du'cate" quests, will appear and hand youa ring item called "Fastest Wheel."

Rare items in Geo:
If you want a place where you can buy Holy Water, IshePlatinum, and more, place Geo as far away from your house as possibleon the map. Then, go to the inn. Inside you will find a Teapothat sells minerals that it has mined. You will get Ishe Platinum,and more commonly, Holy Water.

Get both main characters in party:
Have a saved game file for both characters. Go to Geoor the house in Domina with the mailbox that has ears on it. ForGeon talk to Duelle (onion boy). If you are alone, he will askif you want to call a friend. Answer "Yes". Dependingon who you are using, choose the other save with the other character.Then, leave the arena with both characters. In Domina just walkup to the door and press X.

Shadow Zero mini-game:
Complete the then "Jewel hunter" quests (TheLost Princess, The Flame of Hope, Drowned Dreams, The Looking-GlassTower, The Lucky Clover, Cosmo, Two Pearls, Alexandrite, Flourite,and Tear Drop Crystal). When those events are finished, go tothe bar in Domina on Salamander day. You should see a Shadow Zerostanding near the counter. Talk to him to play the game.

Land Bopper mini-game:
Get nine lands in full view on the world map (whichshould resemble a slanted tic-tac-toe board). Hold L1 buttonfor approximately four seconds to get the Land Bopper start screento appear.

New Game + feature:
After successfully completing the game for the firsttime, load the game that is next to a music symbol. This willgive you a "New Game +" feature. This game allows accessto your old level, items, weapons, and instruments. When you startout in your home, go to the study (the room to the right downthe stairs). Find the encyclopedias and go to the "ForbiddenTome".

Hint: Killing Pee-wee Birdie:
To kill the little annoying egg with feet (Pee-weebirdie) talk to it fifteen times and it will explode.

Hint: Step on crabs mini-game bonus:
Within the Madora Beach, you can play the "Stepon Crabs" mini-game. Depending on how many crabs you havestepped on, you will get a rank from the pink crab in the QueenBeach. There are 31 crabs on the map, plus the Fullmetal HaggerBoss in event "Summer Lovin'". Note: The count willreturn to zero when you leave the land. If you achieve 30 or morekills, go inside the home and you will find Varelie (the penguin)migrating into your house. If you have 32 kills, you will alsosee her baby penguin. Note: To achieve 32 kills, you must stepall 31 crabs before killing the Fullmetal Hagger, then kill FullmetalHagger.

Hint: Common crab mistake:
To be confused while trying to step on all the crabsin the beach, catch an aquatic egg. At times it may hatch intoa crab identical to the ones on the beaches. If you have thiscrab in your team, you may mix him up with the crabs that canbe stepped on, and you will be chasing your own while the othersescape.

Hint: Getting pet crabs to live in yourhouse:
Whenever you help the pirate ship captain, he willgive you a pet crab. The crab is kept alive in your office. Justbe sure when you enter the office not to touch it, or it willdie instantly.

Hint: Easy pets:
This trick can only be used when you find a monsteregg. Catch it and leave the screen. Go back, if you find anotherone, catch it. If not, exit and return again until you find one.

Hint: Renaming items:
While on the menu screen, enter the equip menu. Selectthe item of your choice, select the status of the item, and pressX(2) on the item. A name creation screen will appear, allowingyou to enter the name of your choice.

Equip a piece of equipment or instrument then select it as ifyou were going to change it to something else. Choose status instead,select the name of the equipment or instrument, and you will beable to change the name.

Hint: Monster Eggs:
The most common places for monster eggs to appear arelocations which had Boss battles. If when you enter a recent battlearea and a monster egg is not there, leave that room and returnuntil one appears. When you find one, map out the most commonareas that the monster eggs wander around and leave food everyplace it usually goes. Note: You can only have five pieces offood out at a time.

To get Monster Eggs without using food, hide behind it withoutbeing seen until a cloud with "..." appears over itshead. Then, quickly snatch it. Do not worry if you have peoplefollowing you -- Monster Eggs will not notice them.

Hint: The fairy game:
The following are the names of the fairies, their location,and "eye spell" level on the Snowfieg. You will needthis to be able to get to Ehrlang and find the treasure for thepirates.

Note: Some fairies will drop your level or will grant you a higherspell level only if you had acquired an specific eye level. Elnata will give you a new spell only if your eye level is 4.

Hint: Locations of different types of MonsterEgg:
To raise a certain class of monster you need a certaintype of egg to have a chance of getting that monster. For example,if you wanted to have a Land Dragon, whose class is Dragon, asa pet you would need to hatch a Dragon type egg to have a chanceof getting it. The locations of the different types of egg areas follows.

Aerial egg: Luon Highway (Boss location), Norn Peaks (nowherespecial 1).
Aquatic eggs: Madora Beach (extreme right of area), SS Buccaneer(lowest room)
Arthropod eggs: Norn Peaks (nowhere special 2)
Beast eggs: The White Forest (nowhere special)
Demi-Human eggs: ??? (???)
Demonic eggs: Jungle (nowhere special)
Dragon eggs: Fieg Snowfields (Boss location)
Morph eggs: Gato Grottoes (Boss location)
Oddity eggs: Ulkan Mines (Boss location)
Plant eggs: Jungle (Boss location)
Poltergeist eggs: Junkyard (nowhere special), Tower of Leires(Bosslocation)
Reptile eggs: Luon Highway (in the cave)

Note: The eggs can usually be found where the area's Boss waslocated, but not always. They appear in the same places the Spirits(Salamander, Shade, etc.) appear. Sometimes nothing will appearin that location - enter and exit that screen until they appear.A few Egg/Spirit locations will not work until certain mini-quests(see the Diary) are have been completed.

Hint: Six Wisdom usual locations:

Gaeus the Earth: He is always passing time at the Luon Highway.
Olbohn the Warrior: Has his own room in The Underworld.
Pokiehl the Bird: After The Tree of Mana appears he can be foundat its base. Before that, you may meet him once or twice duringyour adventures.
Rosiotti the Beast: He can always be found perched on his thronein The Jungle.
Selva the Wind: He can be found at the forking path near the templein The Gato Grottoes. It is said that he likes to travel though...
Tote the Turtle: He likes the view from the cliff at Lake Kilma.

Hint: Locations of Rare Tempering Materials:

Orihalcon is most easily obtained In the Junkyard. An enemy calledthe Punkster will drop it rarely when defeated.

Dragons Blood and Dragons Breath are occasionally dropped whenany member of the Dragon species (Land Dragon, Sky Dragon, KidDragon) is defeated. A Kid Dragon can be found in the Bone Fortress.

Holy Water is found in a few treasure chests throughout the courseof the game.

Hint: Artifacts:
Throughout the game you will receive "Artifacts"that allow you to create towns, caves, etc. The following is acomplete list of the Artifacts and the lands they create.

Hint: Gold Seed Artifact:
You have to approximately sixty fruits from Trent (thebig tree at your house where you plant seeds). Trent will giveyou the Gold Seed artifact This artifact gives you land - Orchard.

Hint: Free Candies during battle:
During battle you can make Candies appear just by hittingthe enemy. To do this you will need two good "normal abilities,"such as Flip-Kick and Moonsault. Start off by using a Quick Attackand follow it up by using Flip-Kick. You should be followed byblue shadows of yourself. This means you are linking your movestogether. Keep using Flip-Kick until you are out of range. Then,use a Moonsault slash (Moonsault + Square) to backtowards the enemy. After about two to five successful Flip-Kicks/Moonsaultslashes, your character will pause and a Candy will appear. Thisis a great trick to use during No Future Mode, when you have basicweapons and armor, as it will keep you alive longer. Just makesure that the blue shadows keep following you and you will eventuallyget a Candy.

Hint: Items with value:
If during the course of the game you find your charactersLucre (funds) a bit low, go to the SS Bucaneer. Once there, makeyour way to the lower deck area and enter the left door on thebottom of the screen. This will put you in the forecastle. Hereand in the next room are the Polter Box enemies (which resemblea treasure chest). The Polter Box frequently drops three differentvaluable crystals. The Sun and Moon crystals each sell for 750Lucre. The Glow crystal sells for 1,000 Lucre. Go in and out ofthe room to bring the enemies back as many times as needed. Ifyou have not got the SS Bucaneer, yet go to the second floor ofthe Bone Fortress and fight the Kid Dragon at that location. Hewill ocassionally drop a Dragon Steak, which is worth 1,000 Lucre.The Kid Dragon will also drop Dragon Breath which is very usefulin tempering swords and sells for 300 Lucre.

Hint: Word translations:
In the town where you have to sell lamps for someone,you will encounter small caveman-type people that only speak withthe following words.

Hint: Two player duel:
If you want to fight a friend, travel to Geo and goto the uppermost dot. Enter the building and go past Sotherbeeinto the basement. Continue down once more and talk to the GarlicGuy. You can fight against an NPC or a friend's character.

Hint: Forge and temper strong swords:
To forge either a one handed sword with an attack powerof 245 or a two handed sword with an attack power of 307 you willneed the following items.

One piece of Orihalcon (this method may work with other metalsbut the resulting weapon may be weaker). Note: There are apparentlymultiple types of Orihalcon ore in the game. They range in strength(all attack figures come from a one handed Halcsword) from anattack power of 28 or 35, all the way to 75. Which one you arelikely to receive depends on your character's luck level and possiblythe difficulty level of the game. Also having a pet Polter Box(a poltergeist class monster whose synch ability makes enemiesdrop rare items more often) in your party may be helpful.

Five Gold Coins from each of the eight Elemental Spirits (Wisp,Shade, Jinn, etc.).

Five Bottles of Dragon Blood.

Five Bottles of Holy Water.

One Vial of Dragon Breath.

Note: The following instructions will assume that a one handedOrihalcon sword is to be forged and tempered.

Forge your Orihalcon into the HalcSword with attack power 75.

Go to the "Temper a Weapon" option.

Start off by tempering your weapon with the Elemental Spirit GoldCoins. The order you temper your weapon with them is extremelyimportant. If done correctly, six of your elemental essence markerswill be active. If done in an incorrect order only four will beactive.

Apply the Shade Elemental Spirit Coins first. Temper the swordwith all five coins or until three Shade Elemental Cards (MysticPowers on the weapons status screen) appear and have been appliedto your weapon. This will raise your attack power by approximately10 points, raise the sword's Shade Essence Level to 4 and giveit the Shade Elemental Essence Marker.

Now that you have finished with Shade, apply the rest of the coinsthe same way in the following order: Salamander, Jinn, Dryad,Wisp, Aura, Gnome, and Undine. When you have done this the swordwill have approximately 140 attack power.

Note: If you want to try changing Plunge Attacks, now is the timeto do it. If you try it later it will negatively effect your attackpower and waste your materials.

Next, temper the sword with the five bottles of Dragons Bloodor until three God of War Cards have appeared. This will raiseyour swords bonus stats slightly and increase attack power.

Then, temper your sword with the five bottles of Holy Water oruntil three Cleric Cards have appeared. The first Cleric Cardwill lower your attack power slightly. Ignore that because thesecond will increase that attack power moderately and the thirdcard will boost it greatly, so that the swords attack power isaround 225.

Finally, to get your sword's attack power up to 245, temper itonce with a Vial of Dragon Breath.

Hint: General forging and tempering tips:
Mystic Power Cards seem to work best in threes. Forexample, where one Cleric Card would have a slightly negativeeffect on attack power, three greatly increases it. The God ofWar Card only gives a slight boost in raw power if one is used.If three are used it is raised by 10 (the God of War Card workswell on all types of Orihalcon Armor).

Plunge Attacks on your weapon can be changed. For instance, theSun Crystal's Card, Sun God (you may need three applications ofthis card in a row) will change one of your plunge attacks (onthe one handed Orihalcon sword) to Sunlight, which will stillonly do medium damage but will also be incredibly effective againstthe undead. Some items will change the amount of damage (frommedium to large, etc). Save before you experiment - you may getresults you do not like, and will want to load that saved data.

Hint: Forging a strong attack weapon:
First, forge a weapon out of any (good) material. Forexample, make a spear out of LorimarIron. Next, make sure youhave at least 3 silver coins of each element. You will also need42 Glow Crystals and 16 Chaos Crystals. You can find the Crystalsat the SS Buccaneer from the Poulter Boxes. It also helps to havea Poulter Box with you as a pet. You can sell the Sun/Moon Crystalsyou find to buy the Glow/Chaos Crystals you cannot find. For eachelement, use this order in tempering your weapon:

3 Glow Crystals
1 Chaos Crystal
2 Silver Coins
2 Glow Crystals
1 Chaos Crystal
1 Silver Coin

Then, add the last 2 Glow Crystals when you finish with the lastelement. In the example, it resulted in a LorimarIron Spear thathad 195 Attack power.

Hint: Best weapons and armor without tempering:
Go to Mekiv Caverns and move to the room with the egg(oddity). Go in and out when there is nothing in the room. Stayand fight the Land Dragon when it appears repeatedly. It willeventually drop Dragon Scales. Make a weapon or armor with it.It is possible to get a knife with a power of 89.

Hint: Polter Box quick items:
Standing near your Polter Box produces an "electric"bolt that appears connected toyou and your box's crystal. Thisshares the special abilities of you and your box. You will gainthe rare item finding ability, as long as that bolt is active.Note: you will not get experience while doing this.

Hint: Easy finding ability for monsters:
To get the finding ability of your monsters to 99 quickly,feed the following to them in order: Gold Clover, Pine O' Clock,Gold Clover. You can get 4 points on every level, and max outbefore level 36.

Hint: Learn how good your monster is:
To find out if your pet is good or not (in attacks,defense, offense, rarity, etc.), just go to sell the monster andlook at the price. If the monster is good, it can be sold at pricesover 300 Lucre. If it is not that good, it will cost less. Itwill then be your choice to keep it or not. You can also earna lot of money this way. Note: This cannot be done with eggs.

Hint: Demi-Human pets:
You cannot find Demi-Human eggs. They do not exist.You may come across a Demi-Human creature who offers to join you.Accepting the offer is the only way to get an Demi-Human creaturefor a pet. Once enlisted, these can be treated like any otherpet, and they take up one of your five pet slots. They will notjoin you if you already have a pet or Golem in your party. Youcan encounter a Chobin Hood in one of the random pathways in theJungle, a Mad Mallard near where you fight the Axebeaks in DumaDesert, and a Tomato Man at the entrance of Norn Peaks.

You can get a Succubus demi-human pet in the Fieg Snowfields.However, it will not join if you have a Golem or Pet with you.

Hint: Quick growing tech:
Walking about on the world map greatly increases thespeed that your Orchard and Trent will grow. Simply walk fromone end of the world map and back a few times.

Hint: Ignore Sproutlings:
At the beginning of the game, when you gain controlof your character, you can explore the house. Outside the homeis a Sproutling who gives you an artifact. However, you can ignoreit by trying to get out of the map without talking to it. Whenyou repeat this six times, Sproutling will begin the conversationimmediately. Note: If this is done, the "Sproutling"section in the Character Tome will not be filled in.

Hint: Hit a monster non-stop:
Hit a monster once and do not hit again until slightlyafter you would normally hit it a normally attack sequence. Iftimed correctly, you will repeat the same attack that was justcompleted. For example, if you are holding a staff, your attackwould resemble 1-2-3-4-rest-1-2-3-4-rest. However, if you timeyour hits slightly after each other, they will resemble 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-etc.This type of attack will also immobilize most monsters and Bosses(except when they are about to do a special move). You cannotdo this attacks that use Square.

Hint: Final Fantasy Adventurereference:
Sometimes during the game you will receive an itemcalled "Topple Cotton". Topple is the first town youvisit in Final Fantasy Adventure on the Game Boy.

There are also other items referring to Final Fantasy Adventure.Some of these are IshePlatinum, which refers to the town of Ish/Ishe,MenosBronze, referring to Menos, and WendelSilver, referring toWendel.

Additionally, the shopkeeper and some of the monsters resembletheir counterparts in Final Fantasy Adventure.

Hint: Final Fantasy reference:
In Geo, at the gates of the Academy Of Magic, thereis a little statue of the original Vivi, from the early FinalFantasy games. Stay to the left of the screen to see it.

Hint: Name changes:
Some characters' names differ from their Japanese versions.
