Note: This game is also titled Need For Speed: Road Challenge.

Titan Hotrod:
Enter Hotrod as a name to unlock all cars intest drive and versus modes. The phrase "Cheat Activated"will appear to confirm correct code entry. Note: The game cannot be saved when this code is in use. This car is normally unlockedby successfully completing all the special events with gold trophies.

To use the Titan Hotrod in tournament and special events mode,successfully complete all the special events with gold trophies.

Phantom car:
Enter Flash as a name. The phrase "CheatActivated" will appear to confirm correct code entry. Thecar will be available in Hot Pursuit mode. Note: The game cannot be saved when this code is in use.

To use the Phantom car in tournament and special events mode,successfully complete all the tournaments with gold trophies.

Helicopter:
Enter Whirly as a name. The phrase "CheatActivated" will appear to confirm correct code entry. Thehelicopter will be available in Test Drive mode. Note: Enablingthis code will disable the option to save your game. To fly thehelicopter without disabling the save option, successfully completeHot Pursuit mode with the Lamborghini Diablo Cop Car.

Police cars:
Enter NFS_PD as a name. All police cars willbe unlocked in Hot Pursuit mode. Note: "_" indicatesa space.

Bonus police cars:
Complete the Hot Pursuit with each type of police carto unlock a new car (Chevy Caprice: Corvette, BMW M5: Porche 911,Porche 911: Lamborghini Diablo, Lamborghini Diablo: Whirly theHelicopter).

In the police mode in hot pursuit mode, get ten cars within thetime limit. You will be able to activate the "Super policecars mode" which gives you special cars on hot pursuit.

Drive any car in any tournament:
Successfully complete all the tournaments. Additionally,select "Options" at the car select screen to chooseupgraded opponents.

Dashboard view:
Press Start to load the race after selectingthe game options, then immediately hold Up + Triangle+ X before the loading screen appears. Keep the buttonsheld until the loading screen disappears. A dashboard will nowappear in the in-car view.

Remove race statistics screen:
Hold Triangle for a few seconds during a raceto make the statistics (time, speed, radar, etc.) disappear. Todisplay them again, hold Triangle.

Turbo boost:
Enable the "Dashboard view" code, then pressUp during game play.

For the turbo boost without the dashboard view, or when in twoplayer mode: Press Start to load the race after selectingthe game options, then immediately hold Up + Triangle+ Square before the loading screen appears. Keep the buttonsheld until the loading screen disappears. Then, press Upduring game play.

Drunk mode:
Press Start to load the race after selectingthe game options, then immediately hold Up + R1+ L2 before the loading screen appears. Keep the buttonsheld until the loading screen disappears. The screen will becomeblurred, with ten cars appearing in place of one.

Heavier car:
Select single race, test drive, or high pursuit mode.Press Start to load the race after selecting the game options,then immediately hold Left + Square + Circlebefore the loading screen appears. Keep the buttons held untilthe loading screen disappears. Your car will become heavier, allowingyou to run into other cars and send them flying. This is especiallyuseful in the open road special events.

Slow CPU cars:
Select tournament or special events mode. Press Startto load the race after selecting the game options, then immediatelyhold Left + Square + Circle before the loadingscreen appears. Keep the buttons held until the loading screendisappears. Alternately, hold Right + Circle + Square.

Quick resume:
Press Select after crashing to quickly returnto the middle of the road. This is very useful after crashinginto a wall that you must back up from before continuing.

Easy cars and money:
Note: This version of the trick requires two memorycards. You need to own at least one car and have enough money($20,000) to buy a new car. Once this is accomplished, copy theNeed For Speed 4 file to another memory card. While both memorycards are in the PlayStation, race in the High Stakes mode andhave player two intentionally forfeit at the beginning of therace. Player one should now have two of the same car. Copy thesaved data to the other card again and repeat. You can then sellall your cars for a large amount of money.

To perform this trick with only one memory card, enter high stakesmode and the game will search port one for a memory card beforechecking port two. If there is no card in port two, the game willprompt you to retry. Simply remove the card from port one andinsert it into port two to have double the cars.

Have at least two cars or one car and $20,000 saved to a memorycard. Use the "Easy money" hint to earn some money.Sell the cars that you have won. Buy a car, but do not save iton your memory card. Use the "Easy money" hint. Youwill be able to use the car owned when saved. After one win, youwill now have both of those cars, plus the one(s) that you boughtwith the money from the first one. You now have one extra car.

Unlimited money:
Play the game in two player High Stakes mode and keepraising money until you can buy two of each car. After this point,every time a tournament or a single race is entered you will havethree McLaren F1 GTRs. Sell one to build your total cash. Afterselling one of those cars, go to a race in a single race mode.Race, then go back to the car dealer. Three McLarens will be there.

Activate lights:
Hold L1 and press Left or Rightto use the turn signals. Hold L1 and press Up toturn on the headlights. Hold L1 and press Down toturn on the hazard lights.

When you drive in the dark, you will always have your lights on.You can turn them bigger and smaller by pressing Up. PressL1 + Up to turn them completely off. Once they areoff, press Up and you will be in the dark.

Activate horn:
Press Up to beep your horn.

To use the horn at night, use a Dual Shock controller. Press Analog,then L3 or R3.

Change music:
Pause game play during a race. Resume the game to changethe current song.

Hint: Easy turning:
To prevent too much sliding while turning, pause gameplay. When the game is resumed, your car will automatically straightenup.

Hint: Power slide:
If you are going around a tight corner, press Triangleand you will slide into place. This is most useful in kindermakPark at the hair pin turn.

Hint: Burn rubber:
Press Square + X to burn rubber.

Hint: Gold Diablo SV chase:
Select Hot Pursuit mode under the expert skill level.Begin game play and look for a road block with a Super Cop withgold Diablo SV with blue and yellow lights instead of the silverCorvette with red and blue lights.

Hint: Special event skip:
Once the BMW Z3 Special Event has been successfullycompleted, you need to enter the Tournament with the Camaro andFirebirds. Forfeit the first race when it starts, then repeatthis with all the remaining races. Once this has been completed,you can go to the special event and win with your Camaro/Firebird.

Hint: Extra hot pursuit time:
Do not enter a name to get more time in single playerhot pursuit mode.

Hint: Hot pursuit mode items:
When playing the cop in hot pursuit mode, L1during the chase and a small item box will appear in the bottomright corner. Keep L1 held and press a button for backup,road blocks, etc.

Hint: Eliminate Nemesis:
Enable the "Heavier car" code (and optionally,the "Turbo boost" code). If Nemesis is in first place,slam or spin his car so that one of the other cars is in first,your car is in second, and his car is in any other position. Nemesisshould fall back slightly. Regain first place without Nemesispassing you. Nemesis should fall back into last or second to lastplace and will trail behind the pack. He will remain in this positionas long as he does not pass your car. If this is done during atournament race, he will remain in that position for the restof the tournament.

Hint: Easier Hot Pursuit arrests:
Press L1 + Up to turn off the sirensin your police car in hot pursuit mode. The speeder should beginto slow down. Turn the sirens back on after your car is in positionto arrest the driver.

Another way to make Hot Pursuit arrest easier is to enable the"Turbo boost" and the "Heavier car" codes.To do this, enable the "Turbo boost" code for a singlerace or test drive. Then, enable the "Heavier car" codefor the Hot Pursuit. Make sure damage is set to "on".Use the turbo to catch up with the speeder, then ram the car.After doing this several times, if you have not caught him already,the speeder will begin to slow down greatly.

Hint: Saving money:
Save the game before entering big competitions. Whenyou crash in a tournament or special event and do not want topay, simply reset the PlayStation.

Hint: Program music:
Choose the "CD Player" selection at the optionsmenu. You will be able to program the music you want to hear bypressing X to toggle the songs.

Glitch: Flying crashes:
Choose any race type, then choose Kindiak Park as atrack. There is a glitch in the game that allows you to send yourcar flying through the air, with hang times upwards of five seconds,and with great crashes at the end. In forward driving, as youround the last right-hand bend approaching the finish line atthe railroad tracks, head for the left side of the track. Youwill see an embankment on each side of the tracks where they leavethe screen. Basically, you will need to drive between the lastlight pole before the tracks and the crossing signal, launchingyour car off of the first embankment onto the other, jumping thetracks. Try to barely hit the embankments -- if you travel toofar up onto the hill, you will hit an invisible "wall".If you can get the car to launch in this way, it will sail highin the air off of the second embankment, often rounding the firstright-hand bend of the track while still airborne.

Glitch: Disappearing or small car in replay:
This cheat works in replay mode. Select a car, thenchoose Canada: Kindiak Park . Drive normally but do not go thewrong way. After you finish the race, view the replay. The carwill drive straight and then turn right. Before it turns and passesthe trees, pause the replay. Cycle through all the camera viewsuntil reaching camera number 1 again. You will see only treeswithout the car or a very small car. If this does not happen,use camera number 3.

Glitch: Quick Hot Pursuit time:
Select the first track in France in Hot Pursuit mode.When your police car is almost aside the car being chased, getin front of it and intentionally crash into the wall. If donecorrectly, the game will register the him as being caught witha very quick time.

Glitch: Stop talking and moving:
Select single player mode, then choose Hot Pursuit.Play as a cop and when he is talking to headquarters, press L2.He will stop talking and moving.
