Avoid Pitfalls

First,put a flying unit, preferrably Haar or Jill (if you have her), on anunactivated pitfall space. Now, you can safely move any unit, flying ornot, over the spaces without having them fall into a hole. But rememberthat a ground unit cannot pass pitfalls that have already beenactivated, so this can only work with non-activated pitfalls.

Note: Enemy units do not fall into pitfalls, and they will block off normal spaces right next to pitfalls.
